Promoting Healthy Behaviors (PHB) Activity

The Promoting Healthy Behaviors (PHB) Activity is a Social and Behavior Change project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and was commenced in 2018. The goal of PHB is to improve health behaviors among Cambodians and ensure they seek and receive quality healthcare with decreased financial hardship.

GEO FOCUS AREAS

PHB, implemented by Population Services International (PSI) and its partners in collaboration with the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), works in eight provinces: Phnom Penh, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum, Battambang, Pailin, Pursat and Kampong Speu.

OBJECTIVES

Objective 1: Strengthened public sector systems for oversight and coordination of SBC at national and provincial levels

  1. Coordination and joint planning of SBC programming among stakeholders, including the private sector, improved through development of a sector-wide strategic framework
  2. Strengthened systems for ensuring quality and ongoing monitoring, building in feedback loops to ensure continuous learning and steady improvement of process and SBC interventions
  3. Increased RGC funding for SBC as an essential element of health programming

Objective 2: Improved ability of individuals to adopt healthy behaviors

  1. Quality, high-priority SBC activities demonstrated by the project in partnership with SBC service providers
  2. Increased self-efficacy to enact positive behaviors and reduce harmful behaviors, including use of health and social services, among priority populations
  3. Characteristics of high-quality services perceived more accurately by priority populations
  4. Strengthened social norms supporting positive behaviors among priority populations
